Sustainability and equity are among the most challenging issues facing communities today. The pervasiveness of the pandemic has not only cast a spotlight on the systemic disparities plaguing our communities but has also widened the existing inequalities.

There is a pressing need to deliver growth and well-being while simultaneously impacting systemic barriers plaguing communities and people of color at disproportionate rates. Place-based strategies aim to improve social, economic, and physical well-being and access to opportunity for people—particularly people of color and families with low incomes—who live in neighborhoods, cities, and rural communities experiencing disinvestment. Our solutions often involve collaboration across institutional sectors—the public, private and nonprofit sectors. We offer a holistic approach
to local development, acknowledging and leveraging the full ecosystem for sustainable change.
